HUNZA Properties Bhd’s landmark projects in Penang clinched a trio of accolades at the prestigious Asia Pacific Property Awards 2018-2019.
The luxury condominium Alila2 was crowned Best Residential Development, Malaysia and also honoured for Best Development Marketing, Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the premier shopping and lifestyle venue Gurney Paragon Mall won Best Retail Development, Malaysia. Both were accorded five-star ratings.
The awards were presented in a gala dinner held in association with Salice at Marriot Marquis Queens Park in Bangkok, Thailand, recently.
Hunza Group founder-cum-executive adviser Datuk Seri Khor Teng Tong and company directors were on hand to receive the certificates.
The evening brought more good news as Gurney Paragon Mall also received a nomination to contend for the world’s best retail development with the award ceremony scheduled to be held in London this December.
Hunza Group managing director Datuk Khor Siang Gin said they were deeply honoured to receive not one but three significant awards.
He described the five-star ratings as the icing on the cake.
“This is a tremendous achievement and marks another important milestone for Hunza.
“Results like these further cement our presence as a driving force not only in the Malaysian property sector but across international markets as well.
“It’s also a privilege to compete with some of the world’s best at the international awards later this year,” he said.
Iconic features of Gurney Paragon Mall, located on the famed Gurney Drive seafront and touted as the New Heart of Penang, include a century-old heritage building, St. Jos.
The mall was recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the first shopping mall to be integrated with heritage building and also won a slew of international and domestic accolades.
Alila2 comprises a pair of 33 and 34-storey tower blocks set on 9.8 acres (3.96ha) of freehold elevated land in Tanjung Bungah, housing 270 lavish condominiums.
Besides having 47% of the total area dedicated to greenery, it features a vast array of unparalleled lifestyle amenities.
Winners of the Asia Pacific Property Awards are evaluated based on design, quality, service, innovation, originality and commitment to sustainability.
Hundreds of entries were received from across the Asia Pacific region.
They were scrutinised by a judging committee that comprised over 80 global experts and chaired by three members of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords.
The awards are in their 25th year and cover over 45 residential and commercial categories.
Besides Asia Pacific, regional awards are also staged in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Canada, Central & South America, the Caribbean, the United Staes and the UK.
Top winners from each region are entered into the overall international awards at the end of the year.
