Two years in the making, Nanjing Qiaobei MiXC One, a shopping centre redevelopment project architecturally designed by AICO, officially opened its doors on the 29th of June 2021. The project is adjacent to the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, which was the first Yangtze River Bridge designed and built by China itself. The bridge represents an important achievement in China’s economic development and infrastructure construction, and it’s one of the landmarks of Nanjing.
The design scope of AICO includes master planning, facade renovation, commercial plan optimisation and space redesign. The design team believes that the building envelope should be simple and clean, at the same time, showing vitality to on average 84,000 vehicles shuttling across the bridge every day. The team also framed the urban landscape into the project, so that visitors can interact with the city.
The project is CR Land’s first “MiXC One” in the city of Nanjing, which now houses more than 240 tenants. The redevelopment will dramatically improve the property’s value. More importantly, it is becoming a vibrant tissue of the urban fabric in the area.
