Following a 30-year military career with the Army Catering Corps, and subsequently the Royal Logistic Corps, Philippe became Chief Executive of the Institute of Hospitality in 2002, and then Executive Secretary to the Master Innholders in 2012, retiring from this role in 2017. He holds Honorary Doctorates from the University of Surrey and the University of West London, and an MBA from Bournemouth University as well as Bachelor Degrees from the University of Surrey and the Open University.
A Liveryman of both the Worshipful Company of Innholders and the Worshipful Company of Cooks, he remains engaged with a number of hospitality industry charitable bodies, including the Victory Services Club, where he is the Vice Chairman and the Rotherwick Foundation.
