A versatile, energetic and sociable professional, Simon has substantial experience in the design industry and strong proficiency in management, creativity and marketing. He is a self-starter with superb team leadership abilities, personnel management skills and expertise in the interior design and recruitment sectors. Since 2014, Simon has been on the judging panel for the International Property Awards and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
He has personal knowledge of the design scene and cultural awareness through film, art, fashion, travel and regular exposure to UK and international events. Recognised for being a people person, Simon has a broad and eclectic network of industry colleagues and contacts, building relationships and handling difficult situations with calm and diplomacy. With over 30 years in the design industry, including running his own business his ability to lead, manage and deliver projects is well proven. Working as a consultant of design recruitment for several years, he has also gained valuable expertise within this sector for the UK, European and Asian markets.
Simon strongly values design education and lectures for The University of Arts, London at the Chelsea College campus in addition to being an Associate Lecturer at Central St Martins, London and a visiting lecturer at The Interior Design School, London. He was twice elected to the role of International Director for the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) from 2010 – 2014, attaining Board Director level. Simon was responsible for creating, developing and managing relationships outside the UK on behalf of the BIID. He has represented interior designers through presentations to audiences across diverse cultures and attitudes in Europe, Japan, Canada, Russia, India and the USA. He was also selected as a brand ambassador for Decorex 2017 to celebrate its 40th anniversary. As a keen writer, Simon has written numerous Blogs and is author of ‘LISTEN DESIGN INSPIRE – Matteo Bianchi’s Creative Journey’ to be published by Filament Publishing and launched in Dubai, Milan and London in spring/summer 2018.
In 2018 Simon was appointed as Studio Manager for Reddy Architecture + Urbanism, where he is responsible for leading studio operations, staff on-boarding, health and safety, website management and the London social media platforms.
